Until the work is ready.

No hard deadlines, no rush. We move through stages with 2–3 rounds of feedback on each — blockout, sculpt, retopology, UV and bake, textures, render. We move on when the stage looks solid.

01 / WHO IT'S FOR

Who it suits

3D artists who've learned the basics but are stuck — and don't know how to keep growing toward their first offer.

Required minimum to start:

  • Basic ZBrush sculpting
  • Basic retopology and baking
  • Basic Substance Painter
02 / FORMAT

How it works

One-on-one mentorship at the pace of your project, not the calendar.

  • 6 pre-recorded video lectures
  • Video feedback — watch anytime
  • Unlimited Discord support
  • Lifetime access to the Discord server
  • We move on when the stage is ready
03 / SOFTWARE

Tools

I work in ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter and Unreal. You can use alternatives — Blender, 3ds Max, Marmoset. The principles carry over.

  • Maya / Blender
  • Substance Painter

Stages · 2–3 rounds of feedback each
S 01
Concept & preparation
We'll learn how to read and analyze a concept properly — to nail proportions and character, spot problem areas in advance, and set the project up for efficient work.
S 02
Blockout
The foundation of a good character. Mistakes here are expensive. We'll build a solid base for your character.
S 03
High-poly model
We take the blockout up to a high-poly model — refining forms and polishing details.
S 04
Low-poly model
Building the low-poly. Retopology, UV and baking. I'll show you how to build a flexible system that survives model changes — keep editing and re-baking textures in one click.
S 05
Texturing
I'll show you how good texturing actually works — how to make textures that catch the eye, what mistakes to avoid, and what you should never do.
S 06
Final render
I'll walk you through lighting and rendering your model.

Your project, your pace.

Sergei Chesnokov

Sergei Chesnokov
Character ExDev Lead · DICE / EA

My name is Sergei Chesnokov. I've been in the game industry for over 14 years.

I started my career at the outsourcing studio Sperasoft as a Junior 3D Artist and grew into Associate Art Director. Later I joined Larian Studios. I currently live in Sweden and work at DICE (EA) as Character ExDev Lead.

Projects I've worked on include: Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Baldur’s Gate 3, Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6.

I specialize in both hard-surface modeling and organic forms.

I've been a lead for more than 6 years. My main job is to grow and support both external and internal teams — training, documentation, written feedback. Mentorship is also a core part of my work. All of this lets me keep refining and improving my course.

What people ask most.

Is this for beginners?
This is a step up from artists who already know the basics, toward an advanced level. You should know the basics of sculpting and ZBrush, modeling and retopology, be able to bake textures somehow (even imperfectly), and know the basics of Substance Painter. I do explain a lot about how things work in each program, but it's not exactly a beginner level. If you don't have that yet, take any beginner-to-intermediate course on those tools first.
How long does the mentorship take?
As long as your project needs. Most students finish in 8–12 weeks part-time. The price doesn't change if you take longer. The principle is simple: 2–3 rounds of feedback per stage, move on when the stage is solid. No clock running.
What language do you teach in?
All videos are currently recorded in Russian. The English version is in production.
Can I use Blender instead of ZBrush and Maya?
For modeling you can use any software you like. For sculpting and texturing — ZBrush and Substance Painter, because right now they're irreplaceable in production. I aim to keep this course as close to the real pipeline as possible.
Will I get a portfolio piece out of it?
Of course. Everything you make belongs to you.
Do you guarantee a job?
No. And don't trust anyone who does. What I guarantee: honest feedback, the real studio pipeline, and a piece of work recruiters will actually look at. The rest is up to you.
